Sugino AT Triple bottom bracket question?

i've done a lot of research and have a couple questions:

my miyata 610 currently uses Sugino AT triple crankset with Sugino bottom bracket
spindle length 122.5 +2mm spacer on the drive side.

it just clears the frame and shifts kinda okay

i'm migrating the parts to a miyata 1000 frame

i see shimano and tange both offer cartridge 127.5mm BBs

i generally prefer cup and cone.

questions:
- sheldon brown's BB data base still calls for 2mm spacer with 127.5 spindle?
(why would that be if 122.5+2mm spacer works - wouldn't the extra spindle length do away with the need for spacer?

- do you still need / use spacers with cartridge BBs?

- i've seen 130mm bottom brackets
does anyone know if 130mm spindle length works without spacers with Sugino AT cranks?

thanks!

The purpose of a 2.5mm spacer is to allow a single cartridge BB product to fit frames with either 68mm or 73mm BB width. If the BB shell is 68, you don't use the spacer.

Ain't it the other way around - if your BB shell is 68, you DO use the spacer.
