I'm sūre you will find the right buyer in time.

Well darn it, djb. Does your wife need a little arm-twisting? I've had a fair amount of interest through kijiji - unfortunately with "interesting" offers rather than good ones. By "interesting" I mean bike swaps - one guy offered a unicycle, offers to meet me in Utah for pickup (I'm in Ontario, Canada), $200 plus 2 kids bikes... that kinda thing. At least I'm getting a laugh out of it all.

That depends on what the "things" are. Some "things" just aren't suitable for or with children. You are just a confused individual.

What, you don't fancy a short little jaunt to Utah?!
Sorry, arm twisting wouldn't help, the other bike works well for her adapting to a drop bar bike, and bar ends would have too risky without her ever using them, especially with buying a used bike. That said, we have the new one so its a moot point.
I know some people from a Toronto-ish area bike club, I could refer your ad to them, it would at least be the right crowd.
All the best

Awesome!

I wish my wife like to ride!

A good marriage typically has lots of compromising involved. There's nothing wrong with that. I'm glad my wife is okay with me taking trips without her.

IMO You're going to have a hard time getting what that bike is worth. You might be better off keeping it. You'll be able to tour again once your kids are older - Hopefully they'll want to go with you!

(I just cleaned out the garage and sold two bikes for much less than their value and was totally okay with it.)

fiets, you do come out with curious statements sometimes.

Grand-I just looked again for the kijiji ad to refer it to some people and nothing comes up, did you take it down?

Glandslamboogie -- You might also check on the Commuting forum here. A lot of commuters use touring bikes because they are so convenient for carrying gear and usually have mounts for fenders. For some commuters, a tourer is the perfect bike.

Thanks no1mad.. I emailed the OP and she replied "Hi - I decided not to sell it. Instead, I've let my sister-in-law keep it until I have more time for it. I just couldn't part with it"..

Bruce Gordon

I was given a Bruce Gordon hikiri bike and a set of Robert Beckman panniers but no rack. Looking for a BG rear rack to mount bags. I have a brand new unused BG low front rack I cant use and would sell or trade for a rear rack.

Sure his panniers are compatible with a BG rack? Later in life, Beckman was making panniers that were basically compatible only with his racks. How do I know? I had a set of his racks and panniers. 1999 vintage. Someone stole the racks along with the bike they were attached to. The panniers will not work with other racks without modifications to the racks. The rack/pannier system produced by Beckman at that stage was an integrated one.

Absolutely true. I've made a lot of compromises over the past 30+ years. Wish my wife would make a few.

I'm seeing at least 2 Bruce Gordon Racks popping up on E-Bay Sold listings.

Thus, one should be able to expect more to pop up, if you have patience.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Bruce-Gordo...k/283212969198
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Bruce-Gordo...k/332838372960

At least these two racks have a unique simplistic style, and I'm not sure I'd choose them due to a lack of a strong vertical element, and no center guard over the tire.

However, it looks like Robert Beckman is still making racks and panniers. Also with a similar style.

Robert Beckman Designs - Critical Rack/Pannier Details
Robert Beckman Designs - Integrated Touring Bicycles

The Beckman and Bruce Gordon racks seem to have a bit of common styling, and it is possible that they would be compatible.

One difference is that some of the Beckman racks seem to have a vertical bolt element that the Bruce Gordon racks apparently don't have. It doesn't appear to be on all of their racks/panniers, but it could be added easily enough if necessary.

Actually, thinking about this, I like the matched pannier/rack pair, and effort to fix the floppy nature of the rear of the panniers, and the panniers in general.

Depends on the vintage. As I noted above, my vintage Beckman bags work only with the style of racks he was producing at the time. Not only were the hooks attached so that they fit the accompanying rack, the panniers would not stay attached securely to the rack without the attachment system that was integrated into the rack itself. At the time, Beckman would not even sell you a set of panniers unless you ordered matching racks. It was a nice system because a thief could not readily steal a pannier without a hex wrench unless he or she were to make a considerable effort to somehow rip the pannier itself from the six or seven hooks that held it to the rack.
