Searching for help on East Coast

Hi folks,

Some of you may notice that I am doing a trip down from Bar Harbor, ME to Key West FL. I am raising awareness on childhood obesity by biking the entire the way and take photos. However, since it is the tourist season, it has been pretty hard to find cheap place to stay, or any place to stay at all. I am currently in Richmond, VA and still have almos half way down. I was picked up by a gentleman near Fredericksburg when I was riding in the thunderstorm to find a hotel. I am so grateful for him.

So, I am wondering if anyone else along the East Coast in NC, SC, GA and FL would be willing to let me surf their couch for a night when I pass by? I would also be willing to pay some money for it! Please help me to finish my first trip and I really appreciate your help! For the route, I am going for the ACA's Atlantic Coast Route, link here:

https://www.adventurecycling.org/rout...rview-map-pdf/

For further contact, my personal email is xuanyazhang8@gmail.com.

Thanks a lot and please ask your other cyclist friends if possible.

Best,
Bill

+1000. While BF members have offered me a place to stay, it is because I have been around here for a while and you form a trusted relationship. Plus I have never asked anyone from BF. While some may be open to granting your request, I can see where someone would be reluctant to grant your request to a forum newbie. I think you would stand better luck with the links indyfabz provided.

With a minimalist shelter, you can free camp. Churches are plentiful and a good resource for overnighting...if you have a shelter. So are small town city parks, state parks, national parks.

Take a day off and build the shelter. All needed available at a hardware store. Small town stores will even help you do it.
