South East USA tour

As the weather gets cooler, leave begin to turn, I plan on taking a week off and do the GAP+C&O. I will have a small window when it is not to hot not, to cold, & not to wet.

But I want to research an alternative tour, just in case I miss my window of opportunity.

What is there in the southern USA?
I was going to camp the GAP+C&O because it gave me the most flexibility.
But I could to a CC trip if that is easier.
I don't really want to ride in traffic.
It will just be me.
I can't do a paid guided tour since this is the alternative tour (unless I can do it on short notice Oct. for Dec.).
I am shooting for 50 miles a day for GAP+C&O. I wouldn't want to take on any more than that unless I have a bail out vehicle.

If you are driving to the start, you could do out-and-back touring on mup trails around the SE. I'm pretty sure Atlanta, GA area has several long trails. There are others you can Google up. You can cover a lot of territory this way.

For an A to B or loop tour with light traffic, just avoid all major highways. 'Course, you'll probably not have reliable shoulders to ride. My A to B tours involved renting a car or using public transit to get back to the start.

Ride the Silver Comet trail if you're passing thru Georgia:

Brilliant solution.

But, I don't think Atlanta is far enough south. Can I get a recommendation for a sea side MUP?
