Revised route Maine - Isleboro - anyone been there?

Lots of advice from forum. With this in mind we have rethought our plans and will probably alter as below:

Day 1 - Portland to Brunswick 50.5km
https://ridewithgps.com/routes/2932313
NO CHANGE

Day 2 - Brunswick to Boothbay Harbor 66km includes side trip to Botanical Gardens
https://ridewithgps.com/routes/2943473
THANKS FOR THE FEEDBACK, HAVE ALTERED ACCORDINGLY

Day 3 - Boothbay Harbor to Camden 73km
https://ridewithgps.com/routes/2932306
NO CHANGE - Looked at going via Friendship but just too far for us if destination Camden

Day 4 - Camden to Lincolnville and then over to Isleboro for a day on the island
MAJOR CHANGE - I think I will cycle back to Rockland (Knox airport) or shortcut the day before and pick up a rental car which I will drop at Lincolnville then cycle back to Camden. It is easier for me because the tandem takes time breaking down and putting back together. Then we will drive route 1 to Bar Harbor via Fort Knox if we have time to stop. Anyone been there?

Then we have a day in Acadia without bikes before heading off to Vermont, will post those routes soon. Brian, thanks for all your help on this and Vermont previously, I tried to PM you but I haven't posted enough to do that (need 50 posts).

So what does everyone think?

Hoping for nice weather, it's beautiful here in sunny Sydney today.

Regards
Margot

Acadia

Acadia/Mount Desert Island is a great place to bike (I live here), and you won't want to be here without them.

For road cycling, there's the amazing Park Loop Road and optional ascent to Acadia. For packed gravel riding through more of the backcountry, there are 45 miles of beautiful Carriage Roads built by John D. Rockefeller. My recommendation would be to come here for >1 day, and don't leave your bikes behind.

Margot,

not sure why you won't have your bikes in Bar Harbor, but there are many places to rent bikes. Not great bikes, but there is a huge business in bike rentals in BH. Also, you can use the free bus shuttles to get yourself and bikes up to the carriage roads from the park in the village of BH.

Thanks for that, as my husband and son are on a bike Friday tandem it is not easy to transport by traditional means. We usually break it down but putting it back together can be a bit of a pain and timely. Given we have only the one full day in Acadia and we have a car I thought we could drive in and maybe do some hikes there instead of cycling. BUT if I was to skip our last day cycling and drive to Bar Harbor instead, we would have a little more time in that area if you think that's a better idea than cycling around Isleboro which also looked quite nice and quiet too.
