Racks and disc brakes
Does anyone know if the Surly racks are compatible with a disc trucker? I read that the Surly racks are not disc compatible but wanted to ask the community for a real world experience. If not are the Tubus racks disc trucker compatible with the standard mounts?
Does anyone have any photos of a disc trucker with and how the racks are mounted? |

you should have some mechanical skills to fix your bike on a tour.
needing pictures for this means you have some studying to do. |

longer bolts and spacers go a long ways to having the clearance for the disc brake caliper ,
you may need to find non standard parts in some stores that service industry . here It's a marine hardware shop, since there are fish to be caught and boats to fix, to go catch them. we are also a passing bike Tourist stop , Hundreds of cyclists every summer. some of them on LHTs . |

Does anyone have any photos of a disc trucker with and how the racks are mounted? As for the rear pannier, the disc assembly is tucked away between the chain stay and seat stay so it is no different from mounting as for a non-disc trucker. |
Thanks for the info! Rather than taking a chance on purchasing a rack on-line and having to modify it I brought the bike to my LBS and, as usual, they resolved my concerns.
For an FYI, they installed a Jandd rack without any spacers or modifications to the Disc trucker frame. |
the Disk Trucker uses chain stay mounted calipers (commonly called low-mount), so eyelets are accessible. Back when everyone insisted on mounting the caliper on the seat stays, mounting a rack was more of an adventure.
