RideWithGPS question

Not a real touring question but thought someone here might have some insight. When looking at RieWithGPS and search for rides I found some that looked interesting but the Cue Sheet does not seem to be available. Am I missing something?

You can upload data in two ways.

As a route:

This is actually created on the site itself and I do not think there is really a way to upload a route. Routes have cue sheets. The cue sheet shows on the left and can be hidden. It can be unhidden by clicking in the two arrows on the left side of the site.

As a Ride (or track)
This is done by uploading a gpx file that is usually obtained from a gps. So rides my or may not follow roads depending on the sensitivity of the gps or if the rider chose to go off road.

Yes, those are routes that were uploaded from a GPS rather than drawn in RWGPS. Open a new tab and draw the same route yourself. It's pretty quick.

Thanks! Also on further exploration I found I can set the parameters of the search for routes with Cue Sheets. So not sure if this means a route can be created without one.

There is a way to select a map and put it in your list of maps

Select FIND

Fill out form
select Show me the rides

Select a ride

On the right hand side of the page scroll down and

select copy to my routes

Just a caution... The automatically generated cue sheets are notoriously wonky. In almost all cases you will need to edit them to match the actual turns/markers.

If one creates a route from scratch, by drawing, there will always be a cue sheet. I have found them to be very reliable if I input the control points properly.

Rather than just print what is presented, I always download the .CXV file and massage it in spreadsheet and word processor to create a 1/4 sheet format that I can easily read.

IME importing GPX files will not give a cue sheet. Importing TCX files created by other software will not create a cue sheet. Importing TCX files for routes created in RWGPS will create a cue sheet.
