Fantastic Very Short Tour (S24O) !

Thought I'd share what was a simple tour, but with it a great return.

I left the house at 10 PM with a backpack (no panniers as usual) and headed into a local woodsy park for a little stealth camping. Great night in nature, listening to the owls and other critters, enjoying the fresh air, and cool temperatures (for us in FLA that is). Slept in my new Warbonnet Ridgerunner bridge hammock and was very comfortable. Woke at sunrise and headed out for some great coffee and breakfast. Nice ride back home after that, arriving at 10 AM.

All this in about an 8 mile round trip area. I'd like to get out further more often, but it just wasn't going to happen this weekend. Never know what next weekend will hold so I took the opportunity to get outside last night.

Sounds like fun! I recently did a stealth S24O with my oldest son to a city open space:

I'm always keeping my eyes open for other likely spots, I've got a few ideas that would only be a few miles from my house.

Creative S240's, both. seat_boy, way to get 'em started young.

Urban stealth camping is really not too hard with a bit of imagination and knowledge of how it's done. I've done it in an abandoned building, behind an abandoned building, on a golf course, in a cemetary, etc.

Some good spots there. I went through a list of places nearby for last weekend and I ruled many out because of the homeless population that I've seen nearby them. Funny that I don't worry when I'm around nature, but when it comes to human interaction that is a different story.

I think that is sensible.

I need to get out on a S24, or maybe even a two-nighter. But I think I'll wait until next summer. There's a window of opportunity between the time the timber companies close the roads to motorized traffic (and I lift my bike over the gate!) and the time they restrict all entry due to fire danger. That's when I want to go.

What I love about the shorter ones is I can decide to go as late as 4:00, instead of the usual longer planning involved for longer trips. I have a pack ready that has everything I need for sleeping. I throw that on, put the helmet on, kiss the wifey goodbye and go!

I have limited places close by though and would love to have places like t=you have - large open areas. However, the smaller ones do well too.
