Yea, New color is White, apparently.
it's built with steel tubing .. some sort of seamless Chro-Moly.

cheers bob i couldnt find it on there site lol i'm a geek.

the guys that ride the Trek 520 seem to like them a lot,i see spa cycles have a new steel tourer at a super price for the frameset but a few guys reckon there flexy aroung the bottom bracket can't figure if thats good or bad ;) reason i ask is i might try and buy a tourer in the new year.

yup, the white frame on the white background was a messup by the graphics guys. It looks like it was overexposed by mistake, I would hope someone will notice this and change it as it looks pretty bad. I've shot white stuff on white before and you really have to light the white object differently for it not to blend in with the background. This however looks like the whole thing was overexposed though, even the wheel spokes and such are over cooked.

and the new look has a real 70s thing going on, seems they've chosen the retro look to appeal to the younger crowd.

A friend of mine has one that is about 5 years old, I dont know if its the heavy front rack he always has on it, or the heavy Marathon Plus tires, but I steers like a truck. Slow and heavy even unloaded in the case when I've ridden it a few times.

Ant, I thought you had given up on this after the Thorn?

ah i did until i sold all my gear and realized what a complete plonker i am, but i do things like that every now and again.i' started building up not so much lightweigh but compact gear to fit in my carradice camper saddle bag. i have all i need to go on an overnighter or maybe 3 days camping. my raleigh 753 vintage road bike wont take racks so its the saddlebag for now.but yeah if i want to do longer tours i will buy yet another touring bike this time it will be 700c wheels ,as much as i loved the sherpa i always though it wasn't the bike for me been riding race bikes most of my life. trek make excellent bikes but so to does thorn i was thinking strongly of there audax bike but just cant afford it maybe next year.

I like the color of the Trek 520; nice classic look for a classic bike.

I think it has always had 520 series tubing. Saw a new one the other day for $1429. Glad to see it is still made in Taiwan, but have to say I think my root beer brown 520 looks better. The white Cannondale Touring 1 looks better too. Of course its a functional bike and looks should be way down the list of priorities.
