Interesting Costco Find
 

Just stopped by Costco today and discovered our Costco is doing another one of those "special events". I'm typically not interested in the products at these special events, but this one was interesting. The company is selling lightweight backpacking/camping gear. I found the companies website online, it's Kymit. If I didn't already own a Big Agnes Sleeping pad, the Inertia X-frame sleeping pad looked intriguing at 9.1 ounces and a 3" by 6" pack size. The Costco prices were slightly less than the prices listed on Klymit's website.

Has anyone tried any of their equipment? I might go back and buy the pillow/seat cushion. The problem is Costco selling the pillow in a two-pack for $27.95 so I'd have to find a buddy to go halvsies with me.

I just received today a cush seat/pillow and an inertia x-lite recon sleeping pad that I ordered off of ebay. Both were sold through Klymitt as reconditioned but arrived looking brand new factory packaged. I got the pillow for $15 and the pad for $60 with free shipping. They look well made. I blew them up and the pad seems much more comfortable than my old foam pad not to mention lighter and MUCH smaller. Hope to break them both in soon and then put them to a real test in July on a 2 week backpack trip.

Yes. I've got the Klymit Inertia X-Wave. It packs to a very small size and is very lightweight. I used it on a training hike to Walls of Jericho in Northeast Alabama and then a four-day, five-night hike across and back the Grand Canyon. I down-scaled to the Klymit from a Neo-Air Trekker. I really didn't think the difference in thickness made that much of a difference to me. The torso-only versus full-size was a big deal and I had to bring my pack into my tent to keep my legs off the cold ground. I think the Klymit O-Zone is a good compromise between the X-Wave and a fuller mattress and I may go that direction in the future.

Costco is selling Klymit now? That is whacky tobaccy. I wonder if they will have their argon filled jackets as well or those backpacking dingys?

Costco sometimes has some pretty great stuff. I got a waterproof backpack years ago for $27 and I use it daily now for commuting. I mean the back panel doesn't allow much air flow but it is pretty comfortable otherwise and fully waterproof and was cheap enough.

I have the Static V sleeping pad and I really like it. I paid $50 for it on amazon. Packs up about the size of a water bottle, is super light weight, and quite comfortable.

I also own a Static V. It isn't the fanciest pad they sell, nor the lightest. (I think it weighs around a pound.) But it does pack up small, and is comfortable. I've been using mine for a year.
