The secret like I said is to not rely on the fabric of choice, instead rely on smarts. Rely on keeping yourself dry in the first place and you will stay warm. Wicking away the moisture isn't what your after, you shouldn't have the moisture in the first place. When its 20 degrees Fahrenheit and I'm out riding with pretty much nothing on I'm dry and I'm warm. The reason I'm warm is because I'm dry. This morning I went out for a predawn ride, left at 5:15AM. I pretty much had the normal winter gear on other than the neoprene booties, need to replace them before winter gets here. It was 36 degrees when I left home and I quite frankly had too much on. It was 44 degrees when I got home and I had WAY too much on. I ended up losing all the wind clothing and just stuck with the long sleeve cotton t-shirt and cycling shorts for the ride back into the library. I could have kept the fleece mittens on that would have helped to keep the hands a bit warmer:)
