barrel bag

Looking for a one compartment handlebar bag. Barrel shaped. Non bike specific bags ok. 14" wide by 8" dia approx. Big enough for a pair of pants and a light shirt and a heavy shirt.

Waterproof a plus.

Searching online fell short. too big, too small, too square too expensive. Didn't Banjo brothers used to make something like this?

Sounds like all you need is a stuff sack, two straps, and two short pieces of pvc pipe to offset the bag away from the bars. The straps go around the bag and the bars, but are threaded through the pvc in between. I have found that setup to work well. If you want waterproof, a roll top waterproof stuff sack would be suitable. Maybe one of the Sea to Summit Evac ones. The whole deal can be dirt cheap.

Gah ! I forgot. I'd prefer no end-loading. But if it comes to that, I'll stuff sack it. I'll look again at the sweet roll.

Can you flop the sweet roll over the bar so it's center is resting on the stem?

Could you mount that atop your bars?

Thanks for the picture. That is what I was describing. I find it works very well. I have hung a small camera bag on top of it sometimes and that worked well too.

BTW, on the comment about not wanting end loading... Barrel shaped bags are most suited to stuffing and end loading is the way to go with that IMO. I once had a barrel shaped handlebar bag somewhat like you describe. It has a zipper lengthwise, and it was pretty awkward in use other than very loosely and lightly loaded. It was a 1970 something vintage Cannondale bag. I might actually still have it around if you are interested, but I don't really recommend it.

I'd prefer no end-loading
