A friend just pointed me to this blog post. Fun to read. My friend just bought herself her first touring bike. It's her first bike with drop handlebars.

Amusing. Somehow his first optional step reminds me of a cycle touring book I once read titled "One More Horizon - Ohio to Hong Kong the Long Way". Reading Scott Zamek's book, I initially thought - wow, a bunch of different adventures here. However, I also thought one or two could have been avoided by paying more attention to visas or to seasons or to ....

I agree with the bloggers premise "Most of those journeys start as simple dreams to go and let loose on a bike for a while and see what happens. Unnecessary complications too often bring them down." However, exactly what is unnecessary is in the eye of the beholder.

1. Leave home at your normal time in the morning.
2. Reach your normal work destination
3. Don't stop.
