Yes. It appears that she’s using Shimano SPD-SL red no-float cleats.

I don’t think she’s at risk for pulling out at her size. My guess is that she uses them for a better connection to the pedals. But that’s just a guess. It’s a fact that she uses them, though.

if she rides TP, odds are that she’ll use straps.

Who is talking about IP?
you might want to doublecheck what you wrote, and what i wrote.

I've been suggesting this for pursuiters to use for years as a way to eliminate friction/waste in their drivetrain. It's not just about fear of accidental disengagement.
Porter has been using straps for a couple months now as man 1 for the team pursuit.

In more strap nerd news, the Dutch men Sprinters are still using the old NJS straps. So there.

Wide forks and wide stays, can I retroactively call this from four years ago? How much has the Hope bike copied?

Was the Hope bike being used at all? I saw UKSI, the special Cervelo and the garden variety red Cervelo in use, but I didn't see the Hope. Did I miss it?

Possible answers:
1) Not ready or 100% adapted yet - we're selecting sprinters with shorter legs in order to stand on it when sprinting.
2) We preferred to lose some World titles in order to keep our big advantage unknown from our competitors, to prevent them of making copies of the concept.
3) In fact, it was a total failure when put out of the wind tunnel, too flexible, very strange to handle, we're trying to fix it. ;-)

I caught a fair bit of the live stream, and pretty sure I saw the highlights for all 5 days, and didn't see it in the mix. According to the article, team gb needs 40 odd bikes, and at time of the champs they had 2.

Or, they're all broken. 3D printing replacement parts as we speak.

The Hope's wide stays are for an entirely different reason than all others previously.

There's an order of magnitude question there. The avanti width was about airflow over the wheels, whereas I believe the width of the hope ones is about the air flow over the legs and trailing riders as much as the bike.

I was trying too hard to win internet points. Regardless, it is interesting that the bike wasn't being given a test run at Berlin.

Maybe a bit like the Cervelos?? They've put them out there so that they're "legal", but they're still going through the development phase. All those angles in the frame and fork that seem to me like it would be a frame that would be very hard to make as stiff as some riders, especially the sprinters, would like while not being a full on boat anchor

I saw it used in a mass start event. I watched live stream on the Olympic Channel Web Site (I just checked and coverage video is no longer there ).

Canada is out of the Olympics and Paralympics:

TORONTO (March 22, 2020) – The Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) and Canadian Paralympic Committee (CPC), backed by their Athletes’ Commissions, National Sports Organizations and the Government of Canada, have made the difficult decision to not send Canadian teams to the Olympic and Paralympic Games in the summer of 2020.

The COC and CPC urgently call on the International Olympic Committee (IOC), and the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) and the World Health Organization (WHO) to postpone the Games for one year and we offer them our full support in helping navigate all the complexities that rescheduling the Games will bring. While we recognize the inherent complexities around a postponement, nothing is more important than the health and safety of our athletes and the world community.

This is not solely about athlete health – it is about public health. With COVID-19 and the associated risks, it is not safe for our athletes, and the health and safety of their families and the broader Canadian community for athletes to continue training towards these Games. In fact, it runs counter to the public health advice which we urge all Canadians to follow.

Australia's PM has made a statement that the AUS athletes won't be allowed to travel to the Olympics should they still go ahead
