Hoods at the track
Is there any consensus on running hoods at the track (from a rule/safety standpoint). I've started riding at the local track (on a loaner bike), and I'd like to start using mine, but the only bars I have are taped with hoods for a front brake. Is there a general rule against just pulling the brake off and leaving hoods/bar intack (ie: is it necessary to travel with a second bar and do a switch out when I get there).
Just wondering if there's a general vibe against it (or a specific rule), or if it tends to be case by case depending on the track.

All I can think is that you might get the lever tied up in someone else's gear, etc, but I don't know how likely it is....

Really? Where's it say that? It says you can't use bullhorns except for TTs and that you can't use brakes on the track. I see nowhere that says you can't use brake hoods themselves.

Which seems to suggest that they're track legal, but just for TTs.
Of course that doesn't really answer the original question which really comes back to whatever the house rules are. I suspect many tracks will not allow them as track managers tend to have a more conservative interpretation of "track bike" than UCI. (See also the discussion about road conversions at the track.)

I have used hoods(brake leavers) on the track but for training only. You cannot race with them on your bike.
Doing messenger work with them..priceless.

Think of the extra drag they create! That's why I don't run them on any of my bikes, even on the street!

Think of the extra support climbing,sprinting and carrying trash on them..again priceless.
