headset differences pista v strada
I have an italian threaded campy SR pista headset,
I also have an English threaded fork (but BB is italian).
What differences are there in the toprace and locknut between
a Strada and Pista headset?
Are they interchangable (and this is for an older track frame)?
thanks,
Marty

The only thing I can tell for sure is that both are ISO.. regarding how tall are one compared to the other... I have no clue, maybe the strada is taller a few mms. The only headset that is super small that I know of its the shimano durace Pista and maybe the new shimano line (600/105). But the problem is that those have plastic covers and usually those brake after a few months or years.
Reading better the question i dont tihnk ull have problems with the thread so far the locknut thread its the same in both (try them with the fork). Both are iso english\italian thread compatable. So no problem in the locknut. The toprace? both headsets have the same top race thread... as the locknuts... but maybe they are interchangable too... I mean maybe one toprace is taller than the other one but knowing campy I bet the set of bearings its the same in both... so probably u can mix stuff there w/o any problem.
Well.. give it a try... u wont break anything... the threads are iso/ italian/english in both...

The Italian toprace (and locknut) will not thread onto
the fork, and I don't want to force it or mess up the headset.
I have an old English threaded toprace and it threads fine.
thanks,
Marty
