spoke count

I am 5'10 and weight about 185lbs. Will there be a big difference between 32 spoked wheel to a 36 spoked wheel. will the weight of the wheel be noticable? is there a big difference in durability?

I'm 5'9, 180 and have wheels with both (one set DA, one set Campy), plus some Mavic Ellipses. They're all fine. The Ellipses are heavy, but they're clinchers.

32 and 36 in here... 200 + Yes i'm a fat westard If the crossing is right you wont have problems with the wheels at all. I would go 3x crossing with sapim spokes.

Four spokes, or the lack of, won't win or lose you a race but those four spokes are one-eighth or one-ninth of the spokes that have to absorb the stresses and strains of the wheel.

Those spokes weigh about 4.5 grams each (4.5 paperclips) so the total for four is 18 grams. Take 18 paperclips in your hand (or 36) and ask yourself if this is the difference between 1st and 2nd place.

I'll take the potential wheel longevity over a couple of millimetres anyday. I might feel differently if I was a potential world champion.

A taller rim also doesnt need to have 36 spokes. It adds to the wheels strenth. I have a pair of 36hole Mavic Reflex wheels and a pair of 32holed velocity pro elite. Both with High Flange hubs. My 32hole wheels are noticably stiffer than the 36 witch I use for training / crashing into people with
