Fuji track on a track?

I picked up a Fuji Tack at my LBS over the winter. It was a left over and the price was RIGHT. I ride it on the road and put brakes on it for safety but I have not used them yet. It's a training tool. I was thinking of giving the track in Rochester, MI a try. Is this bike going to work on a real track or is it a fixed road bike?

The Fuji Track is a real track bike. It's probably the most popular bike at my track.

CrimsonKarter21 08-15-07 04:47 PM

Go ahead and race it, it's fixed and has track drops, no? Then it's a track bike.

You're talking about the CrMo version, not the Pro, right?

Larry64 08-15-07 05:39 PM

Ya, it's the CrMo. Other than brakes it's all stock.

I know some people that take their Fuji track at the velodrome here in Queens. They say it's a great bike, both good for street and track, and like said above me, very popular.

I watched a points race where the winner road a mostly stock Fuji Track. Dropped a bunch of Tiemeyers and other fancy aluminum bikes.

In case anyone is wondering, it's the same frame as the Windsor "The Hour" sold by Bikes Direct.

As others have said...go for it!!!

Bloomer Park is pretty fun. Saturday is beginner day.

I used to race a CrMo Fuji Track. Replaced the stock crank with a Sugino 75.

Larry64 08-16-07 07:42 AM

I don't know crap about bikes, why did you change the crank?

Pista Largo 08-16-07 12:34 PM

The Sugino 75 has a 144mm bolt circle. This is the defacto standard for track bikes. Chainrings in all sizes are abundantly available for 144mm BCD cranks. If you are using 110 or 130 mm BCD cranks, it's a lot harder to find chainrings, and you generally pay more money for less quality.

I've said this before, and it is certainly no more than my opinion, but I thing the Sugino 75 is the "correct" crank for track racing.

yup, bring it to bloomer park (rochester)

There are very high quality track rings available for reasonable prices for 130. The only problem is you are unlikely to be able to borrow them from someone.

Ya, I'm working the next few Saturdays, but I will get out and give it a go.

diff_lock2 08-18-07 05:48 AM

I used a fuji track wheel set on my conversion, and i broke like 6 spokes, and striped the lock ring threads.

knottingham 08-25-07 07:41 AM

well the 2006 version of the fuji track did have a recall on it, so if thats the model you got (its blue pearl and silver), and you happen to have a silver cog, then you will need to get a new lockring.

i took mine to the bike shop around here and they were surprised i was still riding it with no problems, but i quickly corrected it to avoid any future complications.

currently i'm still riding my fuji track...however, the only thing stock on it now is the frame, and i blacked it out because the colors were too loud on it for me haha

Larry64 08-27-07 09:04 AM

No, mine is a 2002, black and gold. It was still new on the floor this winter. $350.00 out the door. I couldn't resist. I added brakes and SPD pedals I'm having fun. :D
