No offense taken. I see what you mean, and I agree.

As for getting fined for looking around while riding the track? Makes me glad I never rode in Australia, as that's one of the dumber things I've heard.

Jesus six jours, did you crap the bed the day you wrote this or something? :p There's a difference between having a glance and looking around not concentrating or watching where you are going. Plus a Gary Neiwand or Dean Woods would get away with more than a B grader or schoolboy. Perhaps I should have been clearer.

My point is that we should we should be teaching riders to have the skills of a Neiwand or a Woods rather than just saying "We can't expect them to be any good so let's just forbid them from doing anything."

In other words he was just fine letting you do all the work and pipping you at the line. You didn't cost him the race. His lack of effort cost him the race. Some might say if a guy is willing to pull you all the way let him. Fine, but don't blame the guy when he dies because you didn't help.

Get your butt back out there and race.

+1.

(like Dubb said) in a race it's their job to come around you. If this kid wanted to win he should have used his head, and mouth more effectively.
