Can a fattie ride a fuji?

My LBS has a real nice deal going on with a fuji track bike. I am thinking about it but I an concerned since i am 220+ pounds and those little 700 x 23 tires seem so frail for the street. Should I just stick to lusting after the Kona FAttywagon or will those Fuji tires hold up under the stress of Philly streets?

Out fishing with Annie on his lap, a cigar in one hand and a ginger ale in the other, watching the sunset.

I wouldn't worry about the tires so much as the wheelset.

Build a solid set of wheels and you'll do fine.

32-36 spoke with a good solid rim like the Velocity Deep V and you'll have a pretty much bulletproof wheelset. Keep the tires to proper inflation to avoid pinch flats.

I won't be a problem. I am 270lbs and ride an older (01) Fuji track on the streets. The wheelset will have more effect on how well it will hold up to the streets. I am running 36H Deep Vs on it.
