Help me Roll!
I recently bought my first track bike a '71 Raleigh Pro Track and unfortunately I need to use it multi functionally or else I can not justify spending the money on it so I don't want to run tubular's and am in the market to build up some clinchers to train on and use on the track for a while until I can afford a track set. So my question is this, I have a Campy Record Pista rear hub to build off of and a Mavic 501 laced to mavic open 4cd in the front for now. I would love some suggestions on a good wheel to use but needs to be somewhat durable since it will be used on the road and roads in Eugene OR look like Sherman tanks regular them 
I have been thinking about using Open Pro's but for now just building up my rear hub and dealing with the current front until I find another vintage Campy pista for the front and then matching my rear rim to it what ever that ends up to be. The bike really needs to be understated and classic looking so this means I don't want any super deep profile or modern stuff. Heres a pic so you know what it'll go on. This will be the first season I run the track so I don't know much about performance on the track with wheels though I ride a track bike on the street plenty. Thanks for helping me finally get onto the 'drome!

36 spoke Open Pro laced w/ double butted spokes. Use road race tires on track until you get tubulars, that's basically my plan (Michelin Pro Race 3's).

rolled around to about 6 shops today and 5 out of 6 said go with DT swiss over the open pro, because of durrability and the weight difference is minimal. So I think thats the plan for now.

I'm running open pros laced to vintage Campy record pista hubs w/ double butted spokes and they're great.
This time of year there are a lot of huge pot holes in Toronto and I have hit a few pretty hard, and my wheels are still true with no flat spots.
I have heard very good things about the DT Swiss RR 1.1 rims though, apparently they're stronger than the open pros and they're similar in weight too.
