Sugino 75
 

You can buy from various distributers, including one in Canada annodized versions of these crank arms. Does anyone know for fact that they are identical arms, comlete with stamping or are they a cheaper made version?

The only difference is that the colored ones aren't NJS, but neither are all of the silver ones. The NJS stamp means nothing.

The reason I asked if their stamped is beacause thats a sign that they are the real deal and not a cheap ass version. My old ones were stamped. I think people who seek NJS for the sake of having NJS are stupid but in this case its going to be up to par.

You get this idea from where...?

Manufacturers liek Nitto, Sugino, Shimano, etc. make, say 100,000 widgets, and send maybe 10,000 to the NJS stamping plant to get stamped. Each one isn't tested, it's just presumed that since it's a Sugino, Shimano or Nitto that it's to specs.

How did you think each was stamped? Some Japanese craftsman with a magnifying eyepiece studying each and every widget and carefully selecting and engraving each piece?

Buddy... take a deep breath, loosen your belt and relax. Im the one who's the 'NJS' hate all most places. It was a legit question in whitch you have flamed moi for asking. If you dont understand the question let me re-write it in American Grade 6 level English (witch is about grade 2 level if your from Canada or the UK)

My old Sugino's and the ones that many world cuppers and grand prix racers use have the imfamos and useless stamp on them. They cost a fair bit more than the sorta cool multi colored annodized version that can be bought various places online. Are they the same crank? I do not wish to spend $200 on cranks that arn't the same as the ones I have now. (outside of obvoius lengh differances)

Now a simple answer would have been "Yes" or "no". Having a short rant about widgets and dies, a small Japanese tool man with a microscope, and how the NJS cert is grosley over rated and means nothing of strenth and durability makes you look like you either need to releive a serious amount of testosterone retention, or your just being a ******.......

he told you they are not stamped. gold, pink, whatever, will not be stamped, period. they are not kosher. if this, to you, makes them not the same crank, then no, they are not the same crank. there. my 75s are stamped, but i dont care any more than they arent fruity colors.

Well, it was a simple question that was answered simply. Some one else chose to reply with a bit of an add-on. It seems like you may be the one that needs to chill out; or lay off of the sponsor's product.

Not necessarily true. Some bike shops in the US that are selling anodized 75s had them anodized themselves. So, they're anodized and they have the NJS stamp, because they were NJS certified before they were anodized. Same with some other anodized NJS parts, like Nitto 123s and 125s.

The point is, however, that anodizing immediately invalidates the NJS specification. So, if you have a pair of blue 75s and they have the NJS stamp, the stamp means nothing, since the anodizing invalidates the NJS rating.

As far as I know, the only NJS rated anodized compnents are the Champagne coloured Sugino Grand Mightys.

Sugino anodizes in-house now too. the cranks are the same as the NJS Sugino 75's except the color. and they look like they 'had' the stamp, but it has been rubbed out--i.e., they have a small circular mark when the used to or would have had a stamp. that makes sense---since they are anodized they can no longer be used in keirin racing. the cranks are the same, the quality is the same....the color is not allowed.

for clarity: if it is a Sugino 75, the quality is the same whether it has the stamp or not, or whatever color it is.

if you want the 'quality' crank then just don't get confused and get one of the lesser cranks (RD, Messenger, etc) and you are fine.

All the anodized Sugino 75 cranks I've seen were more expensive than non-anodized. Anodizing costs money, so I don't see why they'd be less.

Let's not forget the lack of an apostraphe in "I'm," and the awkward phrasing of "It was a legit question in whitch you have flamed moi for asking." Technically speaking, you were not flamed within your question, but rather within the thread in which you asked said question.

Oh, and it's "over-rated," "you're just being a ******," I can't figure out why you capitalized "yes" but not "no" in the first sentence of the third paragraph, you don't relieve testosterone retention, you relieve testosterone itself, thus solving the problem of testosterone retention, "strength" not "strenth," "if you're from Canada or the U.K.," "My old Suginos," "world cuppers" isn't a word, and you're a mong.
