Dave Tesch track frame
Hi guys...I'm new here. I've been riding fixed for about a year, and SS for a long while before that. I just picked up (a few weeks back) a dave tesch track frame. Since picking it up I have learned about who dave tesch was and what he did and how he worked at Masi in Carlsbad and everything...but during my research I have never seen another tesch frame...I saw a few pix at classicredezvous.com...but there are no tesch track frame pics anywhere...does anyone on here have any info on these? are they rare? do you know what year/s it would have been made in? I haven't built it up yet, but I've heard good things about tesch frames...it was a great deal, and it came with a pristine campy headset and BB, so I'm happy either way.
thanks very much for any and all information.

If you get on the classic rendevous list, there is a gentleman who used to work at Masi. He may be able to help.

thanks william. Yeah I saw that entry on the fixed gear gallery...mine is a little different. the decals are more like the ones on the road bikes pictured on classic. and it looks like my frame geom is different than the one in the link you gave...I think mine is from a later period...the gentleman I bought it from said he thought maybe early 90's...but I dunno.

I had a Tesch 101 road frame which I sold about 10 years ago and have regretted it ever since. Dave built his road frames with track geometry which made them great for criteriums. As I recall, his track frames were all customs (the 101 was a somewhat stock setup). Brian Bayliss did most of the painting on the Tesch frames. His track frames are very rare. Congratulations on finding one. If anyone ever runs across a Tesch 101 in a 59cm, let me know.
I was sorry to read on classicrendezvous that Dave died last fall.

Hello!
First post!
I've just found a custom Tesch track frame for meself!
Very pleased, it was built for a US cycling team member in 87 in direct colaboration with Dave, wind tunnel testing the lot!
It's mint as sadly the rider died shortly after having it made for the Olympic trials pre Seoul!
Even had a repaint by Dave himself since being ridden!
R.I.P both Dave and the frames previous owner.

congrats on the purchase. i was debating on it too... grey with yellow/cyan 'TESCH' logo?
buddy of mine swears by DT frames, he's a hardcore cyclist and has had his frame for 15 years now.

His son was riding for the US team as it goes, Dave built the frame with him to get it just so for the Soeul trials . . .
Sad story, the son was killed tragically young, and never got to fulfill his potential, or the frames!

aye, serious.
just spotted that it's your Tesch I was looking at on ebay.
bit slow of me I know!
looks lovely, must resist tho.
no room for more here sadly, and other very worthwhile projects in progress.

Pics of the Tesch here: https://www.classicrendezvous.com/USA/Dave_Tesch/Pursuit_frame_SWillard.htm
Sadly I haven't been able to give it a proper workout on the track due to time financial restraints, might have to let it go I fear.

Curious if you still have the Tesch? I rode an S22 in Crits for many years...it was really an amazing handler. Should have ordered up one of his track rigs when I had the chance, but I went for a San Marcos made custom Masi instead. It was a spectacular frameset as well.
