Keirin racing photo essays

Anybody know if any exist? If so, could you point me in the proper direction? That would rock. I ask because I'm moving to Japan (I swear....no matter how many times I change my mind, I'm going), I'm a photographer, I'm looking for a documentary project, and it seems like it could be a cool thing to cover. Think along the lines of old Life and Time magazine B&W reportage.

Yeah....found that too. Cool videos on the first one, though the second doesn't seem to be valid any more.

Try to follow this link to OLD SKOOL TRACK.com https://www.oldskooltrack.com/files/home.frame.html

If it doesnt link, just punch in www.oldskooltrack.com and make your way to the "articles" section and there you'll find an article by a Japanese guy who actually races Keirin, drop him a line and he might be able to help you out.

Good luck,
Peace.

Yeah, his name is Tomity. He even does some customized track parts on eBay, or on his website, somewhere.. his English is pretty good, too.

when you get there, if you are ever in the Ropongi district, which, from what I hear, has turned into the stripper 'hood recently, give a shout out to Homat Green Hills or Homat West (sp?). Used to be across the street from the old Soviet Embassy (maybe its still there?) and a haagen-daz. Oh yeah, it was in the shadows of the Tokyo Tower, too.

Spent 6 years there as a lil' un.

ill make sure theres gonna be music and a party afterwards...

hope some people want to make it over, oh yeah its actually my b-day party... bit late tho...

Anyway there is a keirin photo op for you, someone here can post up the dates when it becomes available, it'd be cool if this became a regular thing so when I finally get my ass to europe i can go race too!

I'll keep that in mind. Still unemployed here, it may be June or July before I can even make the move, but I'll make it over sooner or later...

Main obstacle is that I need to pay taxes on what I earned in Chicago last year, when I was making enough to live but not enough to live *and* save for taxes. Once that's taken care of, I'm there.
