Road stem on a Track bike?
I bought a used track bike. It's a 52 instead of the 54-55 (of a road bike) I expected for a good fit. The standover is good, but the stem is a 90cm. This feels cramped and I would like to go with 110-120.
Is there a problem using a road stem on a track bike? It's a 1in quill type.
I would like to try to race at the velodrome next season and will use the bike to train. It's important to set the bike up in the correct way.
Thanks, I just want things to be just right.

You can use a road stem. Most people don't use the NEGATIVE track stem much. I still have one but use road stem 12.0 most the time. Some people use mountain bike stem also but not for me.
It is what makes you comfortable.

No, if you use a road stem, the world will swing off it's axis, your hard drive will self destruct, all of your milk will go sour, your toast will burn, your dryer will eat all of your socks, etc.
Actually it's okay to use a road stem. I'm just a little paranoid I guess.
