Track frame sizing help

I need a little help from those of you w/ track frame sizing experience. I'm looking into getting a track frame, and the frame comes with either a 53 cm or 55 cm effective top tube length.

I test rode a Felt with a 54cm top tube and it appeared to fit, but a 54cm tt is not an option with the frame I'm possibly going with.

I currently ride a Specialized SL2 w/ a 54.8cm top tube which fits great. My question is, should I go almost 2cm shorter or 0.2cm longer for the track frame? As mentioned previously, I have the option of a 53 or 55 top tube. I remember reading somewhere that a track frame should be slightly smaller than a road frame sizing.

Thanks for the help

I'd go for the 55.

Well, if 54.8 fits perfectly, go with that (i.e. the 55). You can fine tune a with the stem length.

Track bikes tend to be the same or a little smaller than road. As you know - if you are in the middle, the smaller frame is going to tend to be a little more lively.
