Dear Carleton,
Could you elaborate on your preferred method of sleep (2-4 hrs with naps or something like that)? I remember it from earlier in this thread and it sounds interesting.

The Prisoner of Benda
No.
No. And it sounds pretty dumb to look for a 2wd fixed gear.

It's a simple book written in first-person that takes you through the ups and downs of a racer's thoughts during a bike race.
At 150 pages, it's not a book that will take long to finish. Maybe a few days in a coffee shop depending on how fast you read.

Maybe get him on the case scouring craigslist in LA and neighboring cities. Maybe then you can see how interested he is in the project.

Dear carleton,
Now that you have your own thread, is BF more or less of a boulder?

Dear carleton -
Why do my legs feel like they're never going to recover from the 55-mile, considerably hilly ride I did Sunday? I've been doing climbs more frequently, riding between 20-30 miles daily and feeling great but for whatever reason, Sunday's ride really kicked my ass.

Dear Carleton,
I just read this whole thread hoping someone would ask what bikes you own and nobody did. What bikes do you currently own and if you feel like it, pics?
Also surprised at the amount of fellow bassists on here. woot! (and I prefer roundwound for their tone but flatwound feels better to me. Rounds on my electric bass and flats on my upright.)

My Tarmac:
This bike looks a lot different now. Different wheels, bars, seatpost, and cranks.

The only real "commute" I have is about a quarter mile to my office space so I guess that's doable. It's going to be tough not to ride more than that though because I've been kicking so much ass lately and losing weight. Oh well...two days won't kill me!

The key is to let your body rest and recover like every 2-3 weeks or whenever you feel rundown (gotta listen to your body). That's when the real physiological changes happen and you get stronger.
Here's a relevant blog post on the subject that was just posted today: Stronger Cyclist: How to decipher Body Signals
Next you are gonna start asking about chamois cream

Dear Carleton,
Recently noticed my rear tire was all weird and lumpy in 4 spots (2 on drive, 2 on on non). Took it to a shop as I was not in my home state and had no tools. When I installed that tire, a 28c, I used a 700c 28-32 Bontrager tube, which seemed to be too large in diameter for my wheels (it was folding as I installed it, but I thought it would fix itself as the tire inflated, I got the bead to sit). The guy at the bike shop assured me that I was an idiot when I told him this, and tried to sell me a new tire and tube. Lo and behold, when I take the tube out, there are 2 different spots where it was clear that the tube was folded onto itself (creases with talc collected in them).
What gives with these larger diameter tubes?
