What are your goals for the 2013 season?

Achievements and personal satisfaction are all relative.

What are your goals for the current season? Be they large or small.

I want to go under 12 seconds for a flying 200, and Podium at Junior nationals.

Well, I bought my license this morning, so I already achieved one goal, haha.

My goal for this season is to find out what I'm good at, join a team, get a coach, and race the wheels off my bike.

Podium or at least show well at States pursuit(individual and team)

Simply ride the Elite States Scratch and/or Point race.

Ride every Madison night at my track this season and finally get over sucking at it.

Focus more on strategy and positioning and stop taking pulls that are too long and trying to break away so much.

Oh yeah I'll throw some having fun in there somewhere.

I'm going to win a State Championship in the points, scratch, or madison.
I'm going to go to Elite Nats for the first time, and get past qualifying races.
I'll help support my lower-category teammates in their process of moving up and gaining experience.

Well, this is a bit of a recap for me since our season has finished.

"This year I have a different approach. I have kept up with riding at least twice a week this winter and hitting the weights twice a week. I am not aiming at being very competitve this season. I am working on building a strength base from which I will then aim at tuning the muscles to work better while on the bike. This race season I will be experimenting with training and racing and only doing 1 weights session through the race season, and possibly not even weights at all."

That above, was what I posted in October last year. Now that we're finished our season and me having no aim at being competitive, I upped my top speed by 3km/h (possibly could have been more, but I didn't have the gearing to go higher at the time), went from Masters D to Masters B in our local track open carnival with a 2nd in keirin and 4th in 2 lap 800m handicap, got a silver in scratch and bronze in sprints in masters in our regional event. I also improved my kilo time by 5 sec for our club champs. I count that as pretty good seeing as we do nothing like it throughout the whole season of racing but it's thrown in there for club champs.

So this off season, I'm chasing a coach with a view to riding at state masters next season. It would be good to move up to Masters A at our local track open to mix me up with the likes of Gav White and a couple of other racers who I might encounter at the state masters.

Compete in all the LAVRA TT events at Velo Sports Center in Carson, CA and timed events at Hellyer, San Jose, CA.

10 day road cycling tour of France in July with my wife. This trip is going to be great but it kills both masters state and track nationals.

Compete in Elite Track Nationals. I get back from cycling in France with 2 weeks before the event. I would have to do some training on the tour. My race choices at nats are the kilo, 4k pursuit, team pursuit and/or team sprint.

Compete in Masters Track Worlds. This is on the table but a lot depends on how my wife and I feel after the trip to France and Elite Nationals. Another trip to Europe may be too much.

My big goals are all for the new team I am "leading".

I want to get our top racer to a pro state championship. I want one of our top newer guys to win a 4-5 champ. I want to win the season long team cup. And I want them all to learn some team skills.

For me personally I want to medal in the 3km.

*clears throat*

Entry level goals==big goals for me:

1. Ride Giordana at least once a month

2. Race at least once this season

3. Figure out a training schedule that works for me, my location, my bike.

4. Learn learn learn about the races(tactics, rules, etiquette).

I'd be happy with number 1, but it would be nice to compare this yr.s post with next

As with Brawlo, we've also just finished our season and heading into winter.. but since it was my first ever season on the track, and it went pretty well (podium at regional champs), i've got big plans starting already! Entering my local road racing 'winter league' to step up my fitness to a new level at a time that i normally just tick over, and putting together a training plan that will take me all the way through into the season with an aim to be selected to represent at world masters in 2014

Best piece of racing advice I've ever gotten is from Carleton, and I can't find it to quote it, but Essentially, "When you see Jesus, you're still about two minutes from passing out."

At the training clinic I got to give my favorite piece of racing advice. "If you can walk at the end of your kilo you did it wrong"

I want to get into 12.xx for the F200M

I also wants to get into Cat 4 and actually get some points towards Cat 3 this year.

EDIT: Lose some of these damn lovehandles.

Since this is my first real season I want to:
1) ride in friday night races (D's and C's) until I am fast enough to
2) Move up into the tuesday night races (a-c) and not get my ass handed to me.. badly
3) put in ~100 miles week on the road
4) Join a cycling club here
5) Join a coached session one night a week at the velodrome
6) be burning enough calories to drink as much beer as I want and not feel bad about it
6a) drop down to 185 again... although because of 6 that may never happen, lol!

Generally keep progressing, stay fit / injury free and continue enjoying things. Think everyone has those sort of goals!

More specifically get my first race win. I've managed a few second places and scored some points in other placings but still to make the break through to winning a race. This goal goes for track, road and mountain bike, i'll take a win wherever it comes!

Also finding a Scarlett Johansson look-a-like who is into cycling and likes to give me top end bikes and kit as a token of her love would be pretty sweet too.

My Suuuuper Long-shot Goal is to qualify for Junior Pan-am Games on the track, or Canada games on the road. That's going to be an exciting balance training-wise.
