I wonder how long it will take for Dr. Grigoriy Rodchenkov to turn up dead. This is a huge embarrassment for Russia. You can bet their radar is focused on him now more than ever.

...for now.

If the doping was sanctioned by the highest sporting orgs in the country, itís not a stretch to assume that summer event athletes were involved, too.

Iím not alluding to Perkins doping. Quite the opposite. He could be one of the clean athletes that has to suffer because of what higher-ups chose to do.

Friend of mine tried them out and complained they were really flexy. He's a sprinter but doesn't put out stupid power. Just something to be aware of.

They all look like bars like that Predator company were doing. Just standard bars and stems wrapped in some carbon to become integrated. Not my cup'o'tea but if they sell then good luck to them

Interesting. Seems like the maker has a good grasp on layout technique, but maybe not necessarily on the engineering. So in other words, room to improve.

From what I gathered, he 3D prints the design and wraps around it, so made from scratch each time. A couple of bars looked like they were the sum of some carbon surgery, but most of what was shown on the website looked completely custom.

FWIW He's in the US witness protection program. Obviously that's not foolproof but he's not just living in the US as Dr. Greg, PED program coordinator extraordinaire

I would be interested in finding out how those fit. I'm in the market for a helmet or two. Specialized was my previous ideal head shape.

I have one. Fits pretty well, and I have a rather large head. I'm always a L in helmets.

It certainly met all of my needs so far. It's pretty heavy, and I'm not really sure those front "vents" actually do anything, but on the track that doesn't matter a lot.

The magnetic visor is nice and they have multiple color options, but you have to buy them separately.

The straps are kind of cheap feeling, but they work well enough.

For those other fellow Americans, I'm not sure it's technically CPSC certified, so I believe you could be DQed for wearing it at non-national/international events, but I doubt that's actually going to be a problem.

Such a fair price point.

I never understood why cycling helmets cost so much more than BMX or Skate helmets (around $70USD), other than the fact that we are willing to pay what they ask for them.

BMX and Skate helmets are legal for track racing and are rated to be used in up to 3 accidents as opposed to 1 for road cycling helmets.

If ProTec relaxes the 3 crash standard and made them good enough for 1 they’d probably be even lighter and cheaper.

$300-500 for a helmet is nuts. I have a Casco Warp III and I paid retail price for it. It’s simply not worth that money.

Is the fit more of a round head fit (Bell) or an oblong head fit (Giro)?

More of a round fit I think. In the past I've worn Lazer, Bell, Bontrager helmets that all fit about equally as well. I currently have a Smith Overtake that doesn't fit me as nicely as the previously mentioned helmets, probably because it's more oblong.

Hey y'all, since I'm a newbie I'm not allowed to post URLs just yet, but while searching around on Amazon I found these bars made by Lixada. They are being marketed as a track bar and look like a Scatto copy, but are retailing on Amazon for 74.00. Curious if anyone has any experience with them.

There is a 10 character unique Amazon ID for all of their products. Most begin with the letter "B" and it's in the URL. Maybe find that and post that and we can then copy and search for that.

EDIT: found it: B0757J9S8D

Wow, that is a really blatant copy of the Scatto.

Thanks, I think we both found the IDs for 2 different sizes of the same product.

Yeah, they come in 37cm and 38.5cm widths. I haven't been able to find any reviews of them, nor can I find any info on reach/drop. But, being they look so similar to the Scattos I'm assuming they have similar reach/drop.

Wow-- the thought of my large self doing a standing start with a pair of $75 carbon bars really makes me feel safe,

Im not an elitist, i like to save money, - but i recall Enve composites tested some counterfeit MTB bars. As a reference, theirs weighed 190grams, - 1 of the counterfeit bars weighed 120 and had the strength of a *******. (Not sure if said ******* was a saltine or a triscuit- or possibly even a piece of melba toast). -- scary

Edit: According to all the stars above, if you reference a square (or round if were talking Ritz ) food item, that is typically crumbled into soup, over a salad or even topped with a thin slice of artisanal cheese and maybe some prosciutto as an appetizer --- The computer interprets that as something egregious

What a world we are living in

A buddy of mine got these: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Full-Carbon...-/263010898830

He got them about midway through last season. I don't know how they'll hold up long term, and I wouldn't use them, but he likes them.

BTW, he's an enduro racer, around 180lbs.

That term is also used as a pejorative reference to a particular ethnic group.

Innocent in one context, inflammatory in another.

I know I know

I hate to get regional here, but sadly that's a lot more applicable slur down in your neck of the woods than it is out west.

If I used that term on some of my Colorado friends, they wouldn't know what the heck I was talking about ---- they'd likely say
"No, but i'll take some Ladyfingers, as im making a Tiramisu later "

(dang -- just thinking about carbs all morning )

Yeah, I'm not big either, 160-165 pounds soaking wet, so..... Are they similar in drop/reach to the Scattos?

I'm pretty sure they're close to an exact copy of the Scattos. They don't give the reach and drop on the ebay listing and I didn't measure them.
Sorry, I'm not much help.
