I think they said during that he chose either 54 or 55 14. Probably 54 given that average cadence. 54/14 and 50/13 are pretty dern close.
I noticed he spent a lot of time turning 17.7-8 splits, and then brought them down toward 17.2 after about 2/3rds of the way through. They said that he had a problem going out hot, and they were trying to correct that - seems like they were successful in that regard. He had a couple moments of discomfort - an arse scratch, a few times out of the saddle, wiping his face. I don't think I've seen that helmet before. |

On Thursday, October 30[SUP]th[/SUP] at 7 pm (CET?) Matthias Brandle will attempt to break Voigt's hour record on the 200m on the Aigle, Switzerland velodrome.
To be webcast live on youtube according to the UCI website (I assume noon MDT) http://www.uci.ch/track/videos/matth...e-hour-record/ |
Oh snap! It's ON.
|
and the record falls by 800m.
This could get interesting if this trend keeps up. I didnt care about Jens since he obviously was going to beat it. |

This brings talent, money, and spectators to the sport. - The Individual Pursuit and the Kilo/500M reinstated as Olympic Events. |
Alex Dowsett, Rohan Dennis and Jack Bobridge have announced their plans to make an attempt in the new year. Dowsett was 8th in the world championship TT this year, Dennis was 5th and has world champ and olympic medals in the team pursuit as has Bobridge. Bobridge is also of course the 4k individual pursuit world record holder, beating a record by Chris Boardman that many people thought was going to be impossible to beat because of the changes in the rules. So things definitely starting to heat up again :)
Sarah Storey is having a go at the womens record (which is slightly over 46 km) |
no said date but i read somewhere sosenka wants to do it again

I've just read "The Hour - Sporting Immortality the Hard Way" by Michael Hutchinson. He describes his preparation and attempt on the hour record. The book is humorous (although it is British humor).
In this book he mentions a movie "The Final Hour" about Boardman's attempt; I can't find any reference to this movie. Anyone know about it? |

Thomas Dekker came up short today covering 52.221 km (unofficial) vs the 52.491 km covered by Rohan Dennis.
A US woman (Molly ********************) is scheduled to attempt the hour record later today using the same velodrome (Aguacalientes) and officials. |

Her name is Molly Shaffer Van Houweling. She's from the SF Bay Area. She currently holds the US Women's Hour Record. I'm not sure which record she's looking to break today.
Also Dowset is attempting the hour in London on Friday. |
