Bashed knee

Not sure if this is the right place for this, but......to mix things up, I decided to take a trail run today. It was a really rough trail, lots of roots and rocks. One of those rocks ended up breaking my knee's fall after I tripped. Pretty hard. Small gash, but nothing serious there. Was only about half-way into a six mile trail, and managed to finish without much pain. However, the knee is a bit puffy, and really stiff tonight. I've been icing it off and on the rest of the day, and I'm sort of scared what its going to be like in the morning.

I know this isn't a cycling accident, but surely someone must have done something similar in a road or MT bike crash. Have I effectively ended my cycling summer?? Man, I hope not.

Rest it and ride easy next time on bike. too much + too soon = screwed for a longer time If pain/swelling continues, see a doctor.

Thanks, I've been icing and taking some prescription strength ibuprofen to knock the inflammation down. Don't like to take much of that, but will keep up for another day or so. Feels much better today. Still stiff and a bit puffy, but no real pain. Took today off, and will just do some strength training tomorrow, then we'll see. Maybe some easy spinning the next day. I know taking it easy is important right now, but so hard to do. Summer is short up here!

I have always stuck with the mantra.....injury=three days of rest before going back. Has served me well and never really lost much. Just sayin.
