I have a food allergy caused by a tick bite over 10 years ago. As a result I have to avoid mammal meat and some mammal products like gelatin. Dairy is ok. Alpha gal allergy is the name of my condition. I don't miss eating mammals. They are too cute anyhow. Birds, fish, reptiles, amphibians, and insects are all fair game.
Crickets pack protein and are a real treat. Sometimes on long night rides I will wear a glowstick like a moustache and make a funnel out of a traffic cone. 18mph seems to be a good speed to get a bug vortex into my tummy without chewing much.
j/k about bug munching. I have seen some good looking cricket dishes on youtube though. Time will tell.
On a serious note I do have the mammal meat allergy and is super annoying. Ostrich is the closest meat to beef that I have found as far as taste. I have heard the same about emu. Both of those meats are pricey.
