DripDrop hydration powder
Here's another electrolyte supplement I've been trying and can recommend: DripDrop hydration powder.
Advantages:
I've stored NUUN and glucose tablets in ziplock baggies and they've become sticky during the past month (it's been somewhat humid for Texas summertime). The NUUN tubes aren't too large for a roomy saddle bag or handlebar bag but are a tight fit in my road bike's smaller saddle bag.
DripDrop costs about $10 per box of 8 serving packets.
NUUN costs about $6-$9 per tube of 10 tablets, depending on the type and where you buy.
DripDrop is much more concentrated. While they recommend mixing with 8 ounces of water I usually mix one packet in a 24 oz Polar or Camelbak bottle.
DripDrop mixes into solution almost immediately. NUUN tablets need a few minutes to dissolve completely.
NUUN has a slight carbonation that's pleasant. DripDrop is flat. Both have mild fruit flavors. I dilute them so much the flavor isn't a factor. I don't enjoy strong drink flavors while riding in hot weather, which is why I dislike premixed stuff like Gatorade and Powerade. So both NUUN and DripDrop suit my preference for dilution.
Both seem pretty effective at relieving cramps already in progress. I've had stomach/intestinal and muscle cramps more often this summer than ever before. Both NUUN and DripDrop have been quickly effective at getting me back on the road, within 15 minutes.
But DripDrop is more concentrated, cost effective and the small sealed packets are easier to store in a small saddle bag.

- More cost effective than NUUN.
- Each serving comes in a sealed mylar type envelope.
- Very small, tucks into the niche pouches in my small saddlebag.
- Stays dry.
