False to anyone that feels a vitamin supplementation is not needed. First, in our hectic lives very few of us get a chance to sit and eat a well-balanced daily diet. And second, its natural sign of aging that our bodies become less efficient at absorbing those vitamin and minerals we do receive as we age. Of particular importance is vitamin D, which almost everyone is deficient in.

Everybody has their own definition of what balanced diet means. What is a balanced diet anyway ??...There is no need to eat a perfectly balanced diet every single day. Human body is designed to deal with a bit of deprivation once in a while...Deprivation is only dangerous if it becomes chronic and that is very rare in our modern society with the great abundance and variety of food.

If a person has a problem absorbing vitamins and minerals form real food, do you really think that they can absorb multivitamins made from artificial chemicals and other who knows what ingredients ??. Vitamin manufacturing is a nasty process.

Ever see that episode of My Strange Addiction where the person had eaten only pizza, three times a day, for like 20+ years? They were perfectly healthy.

The takeaway from this is that pizza is a one-shot balanced diet. Say no to supplements, say yes to more pizza.

No, but it sounds like the worst health/fitness advice in the history of mankind. No wonder heart disease is the number one killer in America. Nothing could be further from the truth.

I've heard this forever, but there is never any precision such as how much exposed skin, time of year seasonal affects, etc.

Same for tacos. I'm trying to convince Garmin to make me a miles per taco chart.

Hardshell Del Taco value taco is a measly 130kcal, so today's ride would get me access to a full 10 tacos! 1,339kcal / 33.86 miles = 39.54kcal/mi; 130 / 39.54 = ~3.3 miles per taco.

Important note: while once possible, I can no longer eat 10 tacos in one sitting. I can eat like... six. At best. Some days I tap out at four.

Now that's with cheap-o tacos. Proper tacos are probably ~300kcal a pop, so probably 10 miles per taco. That actually seems more manageable.

WalMart used to have a super-cheap "Seven cheese" pizza that was only 770kcal for the whole pizza. Thin crust! No sauce! It was one of my absolute favorites. So of course they discontinued it.

That depends on many things. Most of us put on a good bit of sunscreen when we go out, even on cloudy days. In the PNW, sunlight isn't all that common, plus the sunscreen thing = I tested way low on vitamin D so my doc put me on 6000mg of D3 for a couple months. This has happened twice now. Anyway, not true for many people. Sunsleeves, 50 SPF clothing, arm wamers, leg warmers or tights, plus typical road position has face sheltered by helmet + sunglasses. Worked fine when we ran around naked most of the time, but we don't. You can get arrested for that now. DNA won't catch up, ever.

Me as well, and what was even worse, I had no indications I was that low. Also, age, dark skin, and digestive absorption issues and dysfunctions. However, cognitive function was one of my symptoms which I thought was just caused by my insomnia. Vitamin D deficiency is a lot more common throughout the world than many of us realize.

You can buy eggs which are very high in vitamin D, they come from hens who are fed a diet high in vitamin D, the problem is that many people are afraid of eating eggs because they've believe a myth that eggs cause heart attacks ...People will eat egg whites but they throw away the yolk which is the most nutritious part of an egg full of vitamins and minerals....Fish such as sardines, herring, cod, salmon are also high in vitamin D...Dairy products are also fortified with vitamin D.

I was this many years old when I learned that it's the egg whites that give you gas. My whole life, I thought it was the yolks.

I like eggs well enough, but they don't really have enough protein (6-7g per egg) so serve as a regular protein source for me. I mean, a greek yogurt has 12g, and I don't have to cook it. <laziness intensifies>

I'm all for hyperbole, but I can't abide hyperbole for hyperbole's sake. Is Del Taco the best food in the world? No. Is it the worst? Absolutely not. Is it cheap? Yep. Is it open 24 hours, so I can get chili cheese fries at 2am? You bet.

If you truly, genuinely believe in your heart of hearts that a Del Taco taco is the "some of the most disgusting food" you've ever eaten, then I encourage you to broaden your horizons. Dramatically. I went to college with a guy that washed down century eggs with Coke. The smell is something you can never forget. Speaking 100% objectively, there's nothing on the entire Del Taco menu that would even approach the top 100 of "things I wouldn't recommend anyone eat." Christ almighty, it's a taco shell with ground beef, cheese, and lettuce.

Oh man, I love caviar, love, love, love it. We used to go to a restaurant, now long gone, which brought out free caviar and cheese at the end of the meal, to be followed by free Baked Alaska. Woe to those who hadn't been there before or hadn't been warned! When I was a kid, I hated brussels sprouts. Problem was, my mother didn't know how to cook them. My wife OTOH, does. Love 'em.

Relating to the OP, if there's a food you'd like to eat but don't like it, try different preparations and try the organic version.

BTW, gotta be Beluga, can't get it anymore. And it can never touch metal. We had ours served on ice, plain.
