Almost every time i do my sprint\interval workout i get a slight upset stomach and a very mild case of diarrhea afterward. i eat the same thing before each workout (usually a bagal or clif bar, and some juice). it only happens when i do sprint exercises, not hill repeats, regular intervals or longer rides. weird huh?

I never tried cross country in high school because the guys seemed
to always puke their lunch. Eat a little earlier.

Funny you mention this. After particularly tough Tueday night training races, I occasionally get a little stomach cramping. The harder the effort the greater the chance that I get stomach problems. Do you notice it correlates with heat? Are sprint intervals tougher than any of your other workouts?

the heat has been pretty constant the past several weeks - so it's the same heat\humidy for all the workouts. i think you're right though that the difficulty has something to do with it. sprints are my weak points, so i've been trying to work on those a little harder lately. right now, they are the most demanding part of my schedule.

One possibility is that it's the effect of adrenaline that your feeling. If your giving it your all in the sprint training then your adrenaline will have kicked in and this temporarily shuts down your digestive process so as to provide ALL energy to your muscles. I wouldn't be too worried about mild diarrhoea as it's most likely a cleansing reaction.
