Advice on training and nutrition for beginner

Hi All,

I recently purchased a bike because I want to tour around a large part of New Zealand next year. I may even consider racing, I don't really know yet.

This is the first time I've ever considered this side of riding.

At the moment, due to time constraints I am trying to get in 30 mins every day which is quite hard on the legs because I haven't ridden a bike in several years.

I was hoping that someone could offer advice on the best way for me to be training. Also, I don't have access to a gym so free weights would be my only option.

With nutrition I was hoping that people could reply with what they normally consume during the day as well as while biking. Preferably with why they choose the specific plan.

During my 30 mins, I usually ride at a steady pace, I'm a bit puffed towards the last 5 minutes or so, and I usually put two sprints in their.

Any suggestions and help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Jason
