What improvement do I need?

Just want to say when I ride with intensity, I realize that my heart can't keep up with my lungs because my heart beats fast while my breathing feels kindda controlled. It's the heart rate that is not 'stable'.

Any comments what training I need to do to fix that?

You should probably move this thread to Training and Nutrition. As for training advice, you need to keep your heart rate at about 70% to increase aero-fitness and then you should be able to feel completely breathless like the rest of us!

As your heart rate is increasing your breathing probably is too, although it may not seem like it, otherwise you wouldn't be oxygenating the increased circulation. I think what most people miss in their training is the need to log lots of hours just cruising at a modest heart rate to build their aerobic base. As Matt said, try to spend the next 6 weeks or so spending the majority of your time around 60-70% of your maximum heart rate. You'll feel like you're not training as hard, but it WILL pay off, and quickly.

I think's that's pretty typical for all of us. At VO2max we'd all be breathing at some rate that delivers the volume of O2-needed, just that our heart is probably close to max as well and our muscles are definitely over LT.
