Must Focus.... Must Focus....

I've been working hard to eat right and to ride hard for about 5 months now and I am doing well. I have lost 35 lbs and am getting stronger and faster. I had been able to control my appetite and diet very well for about 4 1/2 of those months. I stalled out on weight loss about 2 weeks ago and have gotten these very strong cravings for anything with lots of fat, meat, sugar and all of the stuff I've been going without. I open the cupboards and fridge and all of the things I've been eating just look so boring and bland and I want to go eat a giant cheeseburger, shake and fries.

I've not eaten as well as I should have for a little while and am frustrated with myself and my lack of control. I am still riding strong and working hard but like I said weight loss has stalled. How can you get your will back to where it should be and keep after the eating like you should, especially if you have a family that doesn't want to eat like you do and complains when they do?

diets where you completely cut something out don't seem to last too long for most people. sometimes you just need a taste of something to be content. maybe go out and get a small cheeseburger and ride your bike extra hard that day.

Not trying to lose weight but I found in July and August that I craved salty food after 40-55mi rides in the heat, and not finding anything suitable was munching my way through a pack of dried bread chunks for salads. Now I keep a pack of chips around and ration out a few a couple of times a week. With the temps being moderate, it is less of a problem now.

Salty food cravings.. eat a few dill pickles (about 1000mg Na) but little to no kcals. Or pickled herring mmm

Meat cravings.. eat some lean meats they are ok. Nothing beats a big (trimmed) steak with mush and onions once and a while and it sure is better for you than a burger.

Fatty foods cravings.. go crazy with the olive oil on some roasted veggies. Healthy fats

Sweet treats... Eat them right after your workout as your recovery snack and justify it. That is the time when they do the most good and least damage.

Just meet (not exceeed) your caloric demands for a day. Day after day of defict drains you and you need some "recovery."
