Just a quick question on stationary trainer
 

I was just checking to see if anyone knew of good deals on stationary trainers. Im considering using one during the winter months and the times I dont have a chance to ride. Ive heard that they can be boring, but for me, I would toss my road bike on it and rip out a good 45 minute workout and thats that. Any solid ones on sale, Nashbar/Performance.....ebay?

trainers can be quite boring if you let them. I got a cyclops fluid last winter. as you know our wisconsin winters have been mild the past couple of years so i did get out side a lot anyway.

The key for me is good loud music on the trainer, and having a goal to work on . I like to do intervals sometimes crank up the resistance and work on strength, or maybe just spin , Now that you got your A 5 you can work specific heart zones . 2X a week i teach a class using trainers during the winter basesd on heart zone training.

check arround mad town you might find one of the LBS has a weekly trainer ride during winter or just set it up in the basement or garage and ride.

the cyclops is arround 200 buucks a littke pricy but worth it a friend got one on sale for 155 though nashbar etc has sales on varrious brands chack the website and see what you come up with. oh yes i use an old slick tire ont he back with the trainer less noise and it will ware out the tire with use

Catfish, did you get the Mag Cycleops or the Fluid 2 trainer. The fluid 2 goes for 269 at Nash and buy it now on ebay for around 230. I noticed the mag cycleops goes for around 200. Any thoughts on the two?

I've had a TravelTrac2000 (Now called TravelTrac Millenium) from Performance for about 3 years and have had no trouble with it. It's one of the higher rated fluid trainers. You can pick one up at Performancebike.com for $179 ($199 with the handlebar-mounted adjustable resistance unit).

i thught i paid around 200 dollars but i might have been mistaken maybe it was 300 but that seems too high and i would have remembered pating with that much money. I checked out the link dirtgrinder gave and see they have one for 229 i think it is worth it i am quite happy with the cyclops fluid trainer i got

For what it's worth, the PerformanceTravelTracs are re-branded Elite trainers. At $179 it's a good price for a good adjustable resistance fluid trainer.

Go with something reasonably priced, but not the cheapest of the bunch. That way if you don't use it THAT much you're not burning a ton of money.

I have a Blackburn Trainer and a set of Minuora (sp?) rollers, Both are fine for the limited use they get, but I'm lucky since I live in a mild climate.

How are the minura's. They seem to be the easiest to find around here. :)
