Trainer for MTB wheels
Ok,
I realize there are a lot of threads about trainers but I am interested in trainers that are good quality and that fit mtb wheels from 2.1 to 2.5. I have been looking at Minoura models (one of the few trainers I can find). I am wondering how the rim drive works with disc brake based rims (no brake bead along side). Are the wheel driven wide enough for a thick tire. And are these generally good trainers.
Thanx

Most trainers will accept 26 inch wheels. A disc wheel will fit the same as a non-disc wheel. Now to answer you question about the thickness of your tire. You will definitely want to take off your mountian tire and put on a cheap slick. A knobbie tire will make so much noise and will be a very bumpy ride. You will also kill you tires. Hope this helps.

I've used a Cycle-Ops Fluid 2 with an MTB for 2 years now. I just put on a cheap slick I bought at Wally World and it works great.

I've got the Minoura Mag trainer, and it's worked well for me.
I've got my MTB on it with a slick.

Thank you for the response but I have a Mavic 321d which has insignifigant sidewall. I am concerned if it will have enough to be affected by the rollers on the sidewall.
That said, Is the sidewall based better than the tire based trainers?
