I'm out of town and don't have access to an accurate scale. The one here indicated I'd lost 2.5 lbs since last week, but I don't trust it. I'll post reliable numbers again in two weeks. I expect good results.

Good job this week, guys!

And especially -- way to go on staying quit, Michael!

?? Considering that it was started in order for people to share their weight loss progress every single week, no, I don't think it's fair to expect that it will end any time soon. I might not think that extrinsic motivation is particularly helpful for making changes in the long term, but clearly the OP does and that's his prerogative.

I have never before seen a bunch of people make fun of a person who choose a profession of helping people. A blatant disregard for respectfulness that is only afforded to you because of internet anonymity. I hope you treat your doctors better.

I do enjoy reading peoples' success and accomplishments. So I will be checking on this thread over the next while. Keep it up.

Earlier in the thread people stated - that people with a formal education do not know what they are talking about. I thought bashing nutritionists is a brash thing to do. There was no dialogue either, which was weird. I hope they have dialogue with some one about these issues- nutrition and fitness. Some people just came out and said nutritionists - suck. Well, I think they suck. I should add, I am not a nutritionist. But I know some socially. This week I am going to give them a good hug.

You might be interested in this thread that the OP started in order to address the "educated nutritionist" issue away from his "shame me for failure" thread. It's up to 21 pages, quite a dialogue, though both the OP and the nutritionist dropped out early.

I thought that is what the Weight Loss Club sticky thread was for.

Well, yeah but some people have their own agendas. Here, Mike wants to have a place just to put bare numbers. SandySwimmer's threads are about time-related goals and successful strategies, while it seems the Club posts are more about sharing stories and successes. I might be wrong though.

According to the scale here, I lost about 3 lbs this week, making 5 lbs over the last two weeks. It's not a very accurate scale, though.

I will probably be home next week and then I'll know something for real.

nice car..

a couple of quick points...

Atkins is not a no carb diet, its a low carb diet, or a restricted carb diet, or a controlled carb diet... ie. you eat carbs, but you are judicious in choosing your carbs, you eat fruits and vegetables that are low in sugar/starch... and there are a lot of them! I probably eat more vegetables now than ever before..

And yes, Dr. A died prematurely, he slipped on some ice and cracked his head open. Didn't have much to do with his diet. But while we're at it, didn't Jim Fixx, Dr. Pritikin, and the powerbar inventors all meet their maker prematurely?
