not riding for a few days

Hello all. Does anyone else experience leg soreness during not riding for a few days? It seems that when I don't ride for say four or five days (due to family schedules and such) that my legs get stiff, crampy, and soreness starts to set in (mostly in knees but muscles also). Once I get back on the bike it seems to go away. Is something like this normal? Thanks.

only thing that comes to my mind would be lactic acid buid-up

Wow, I was really beginning to think there was something wrong with me. I get horrible cramps in my calves if I don't ride for a few days.

I get a little soreness and tightness.

Are you using a recovery drink? That's made a significant difference for me in how good my legs feel the days after workouts?

No recovery drink. I do eat immediately after a ride, usually some granola bars, pb&j, fruit, etc. and plenty of water. Did you replace your food following with the recovery drink or add it to the food?

Well, it depends on the ride. If it's a Saturday morning and I'm going to have lunch in an hour or so, I'll just have the recovery drink. If it's a weekday night, I've skipped dinner, so I have the recovery drink along with a burritto (black beans, meat/chicken, and a bit of cheese).

For me, I found a distinct difference between using the recovery drink and just eating real food. Your mileage may vary.

Thanks for bringing this up, I've been experiencing the same thing. My legs are sore in places that I've never had any problems with before.

What's a good recovery drink? What should I look for in regards to carbs/protien?
