Free Excel Template for Training
I have sample mileages inserted so just remove them and insert your own. Feel free to use this, it is .xlt format. I can also set it up in Open Office or Starcalc. Use it in good health, and of course, if you want, feel absolutely free to virus scan before you open it. It is virus and spyware free and simple to use. Use it in good health!
To the Moderators: If you want to make this a "Sticky", it's fine with me! I put this spreadsheet template together to help other riders, and it can be publically redistributed FOR FREE only. It can't be sold.

- tks for sharing! the .xlt opened right up under NeoOffice/J 1.2.2 under OS X 10.3.9!
(will give a try under Oo 2.X under KANOTIX64 w/a 2.6.13 kernel)
- hope others will contribute in this sticky!

Besides, free to use, isn't that the Open Source credo?

Also, I suspect there's a bug in one of the macros. Whenever I try to switch from Sheet 3 (which appears to contain nothing but a gray box), to sheet 1, it locks up Excel tight...I have to use Task Manager to kill it. This happened twice, using Excel 2000 on a Win XP system.

Anybody else have problems with Excel 2000 with the template? Let me know and I'll start looking for buggy code.

The problem definitely seems related to Sheet 3...whenever I go to that sheet, it locks up Excel on my system. Might be an issue with what's in the zip file and/or corruption in the download...not sure (installer problems can be a PITA to figure out).

I'm pulling the software for now and will have it reconfigured later today for a more limited dataset, ie: Weekly trend and Monthly rather than the daily trend I was using. Do you mind if I shoot you the file before I post the v2.0? You use Excel proper, vs my Open Office so you can tell me if that fixes the macro issue. Thanks, if so, and if not, no problem!

FWIW, there are already some fairly comprehensive Excel-based ride logs available on the internet, mostly available from bike clubs and enthusiasts. If you're interested, I could send you some links (don't have them available right now though).

I'm doing it for the intellectual exercise as well as making another one available. I'm sending it from My yahoo address, gunsel2001(at)yahoo.com. It's on the email in 5 minutes!

OK, Here's V2.0. I think I have the lockup problem on pg 3 fixed. SSP, I got bounce from the email you gave me, so here is the new software. If anybody else wants to check it out for me as well, please do and give me feedback. There are test numbers in to chek the calc function and graphing, just replace them with your numbers as you come to them!
Edit: Disregard this, it still has problems, now it only opens in Read Only mode, so I pulled it again!

The way that you have set Excel up to handle the data seems overly complicated for what you are trying to achieve. A simple form that you enter ride date, miles, and average speed is sufficient for excel to make a graph and summarize by month. Putting in every day of the year seems pointless and difficult to see the data.
