First charity ride

I'm going to be doing my first charity ride in July - a 3 day, 300 mile tour. I have a 2 year old Trek 4500 that I've used to tool around some local paths and commuting over Michigan streets (some of which I swear must have been used as a minefield ).
When I commute, I switch the tires out to semi-slicks. Will this be ok to do the 300 miles on? With a 3rd child on the way in May, $$$ is tight and I can't really afford a road bike (sigh).

3 centuries in a row on a mountain bike. Wow!

What is the longest ride you've done on it. How did you feel.

The semi-slicks will be much better than knobies. Good Luck!

I was riding a Trek 4500 with slicks prior to buying my road bike. I had the urge to hit the trails a few days ago. Rode the bike 10 miles to the trail - felt like driving a tank.

That being said, I did not realize how tough it was on the 4500 with slicks prior to the road bike.

I give you alot of credit for doing a century on the Trek! Gona be tough, but not impossible.

What ride is this? I'm thinking about doing the MS150, haven't made up my mind on which one to do, the one in May in the Grand Rapids area, or the one in July from Springfield Oaks.

Sounds tough to do 300 miles without a road bike, but it can be done. Good luck and let us know how it goes!
