odd question - how to loose muscle mass in the chest area

So genetically i have wide shoulders and a broad chest. Not a huge deal since i am naturally a big guy (~202lbs, 6'5", %15bf) but when i workout my chest just grows like crazy. It doesnt help my career looking like i hit the gym 24/7. Any ideas on how to loose muscle mass in one area without completely destroying muscle form?

You have to focus your strength training on neural adaptations instead of a program that is optimized for hypertrophy. I will advice you to do short sets (3 reps...), long recovery periods between sets and never train to failure. These changes are done to reduce muscle protein degradation but keep a maximum activation of your neural system.

The next thing you should consider is your nutrional status. Muscles don't grow if don't feed them. With a body fat percent at 15 it is obvious for me that you have to reduce calories. That will reduce your fat percentage and will stop hypertrophy of your chest.

what do you do for work? just curious. my bf is a cyclist and he lifts on a fairly regular basis. he doesn't look like the incredible hulk or anything (6' around 205lbs) but the little internet people he works with joke about his size occasionally. . .

Just stop doing workouts on your chest-muscles then. Do long rides that deplete your glycogen supply. Don't eat afterwards for recovery so that your body disassembles good muscle-tissue to replenish the glycogen stores. Of course, this will eat up muscle from all over. But then you do workouts on those muscles like your legs & arms to build them back up to where they were before. You'll end up maintaining status-quo on everything except your chest-muscles.
