Although the headache has "classic migraine symptoms" (quoting my Dr), we have determined that it is not likely a migraine because migraines don't last this long.
However, I have been given some pretty strong meds! On the upside, they improve my mood and make me a lot more chatty ... on the downside, they don't take the pain away, and do nothing for the nausea, vomiting, dizziness, and tiredness.

If you do get a good solution I'd really like to hear about it.

I've suffered off and on from migraines since the late '80s, when the only treatment was muscle relaxant, pain killer and darkness. There are some I might be able to ride through, though many there's no way. You could try, but plan a close route in case you're wrong. Some treatments are painkillers (Darvocet, Fioricet, Fiorinal, Percocet/Vicodin, Oxycodone). The painkillers can be effective, but can have effects that make a ride less desireable or dangerous; drowsiness, cloudy head, etc. The "new" migraine drugs affect the blood vessels in the brain that create the pain - Imitrex, Zomig, Relpax, Maxalt. I take Imitrex, my wife takes Maxalt. Imitrex has been great for me. Total relief on even the worst headaches. Delivery also differs - tablets, nasal spray, injection. After Imitrex, I can do most any activity I desire with little side affect. Different people react differently - some can get by with simple Excedrin, others require big guns and still suffer with only partial relief. The painkillers reduce in effectiveness over time typically, causing long term step ups in treatment (I've gone from Darvocet to Vicodin over 18 years). I would recommend waiting to see how you respond to the treatment before going on a ride, particularly in traffic - try the stationary or trainer first until you know how you react.

I omitted a part you may like - with Imitrex, my nausea goes away with the headache and I usually find myself hungry and looking for food about 30-45 min. after the injection - 60-75 min with a tablet. My headaches may not *technically* be migraines, but they hurt bad and they hurt long. I think it's less an issue what you want to call it, but how you feel and how it reacts to medication.
