Anyone know of a HRM with calories burned function around $60

Hi folks,
I'm looking for a heart rate monitor for a friend who works out (not necessarily cycling, more running and other cardio). Has anyone come across a product that has the calories burned function that costs around $60?

I have the Sigma PC-15, and it has that function. I'm not sure how accurate these measurements are, but when I look at the calories burned per hour, that value seems to track really well with how hard I worked and how fast I ride on my standard morning route. So on a relative basis, it seems to be an accurate measure of my output. I've slowly notice that I'm riding faster and with less effort as my fitness improves. This HRM helps me see that with numbers.

This is $80, but has that feature- not sure you'll find it for $60. Worth noting, that function only works well (cals burned) if your numbers are correct. I did the "Fit Test" with my Polar F11 and it said my VO2 max was 65. I had it tested live and it's actually only a little over half that. When I changed to the actual number in my unit my cals burned went WAY down, and actually looked accurate. Good luck!

There is a guy on ebay who sells them for about that price I think mine was $40 plus shipping. I can't remember what model it is off the top of my head, but it is a Timex.

I think the calories burned is a waste on HRMs. I know from mine, my HR is very dependant on my rest state, intake of caffeine, how hard I have been working out, and so forth. So I can, for a trainer ride of similar duration and speed, get calorie vales of between 660 and 980 for an hours ride. Far too great of spread to be of any real use.

I bought a Timex that I really like. As said above I'm not sure how accurate the calories burned is although mine is at least consistent. It gives me something else to look at and be motivated by. I only paid about $75 for mine. I'd buy another in a minute.

Good luck
