Day of Rest

Just a quick question about training and recovery.

Currently I'm doing my long ride (75 to 125+) on Saturday followed by an easy recovery ride on Sunday. I also ride during the week with my hard days on Tuesday and Thursday. I'm just curious if I'm better off taking a break on Friday since it's the day before the long ride, or taking Monday off since it's shortly after the long ride on Saturday?

Opinions/Facts/Thoughts?

I would consider making Friday a recovery day as well. That is to say, take Monday off completely, and pencil in a pretty easy recovery spin on Friday, with maybe a couple short sprints.

If you're working hard on the other days, I think 2 rest days per week is almost a necessity.

D: I would take Monday and Friday off from the bike. Do something else, an hour of yoga, go for a swim, bike maintenance.

My current training is similar to yours. I have an 8 week cycle.
Sat/Sun I do long hard rides (100 miles +).
T/W/TH short high intensity rides (45 miles)
M row for 10K meters in the morning, 1 hour of yoga at lunch and massage after work.
F row for 10K meters in the morning, I hour of stretching after work

After 8 weeks, I take one week off, with only stretching and yoga for the week.

BTW, I am 46
