Name Your Favorite AT Workout

This month I will be doing alot of AT workouts in preparation for my cross USA ride this June.

My standard workout is to do 5, 12 minute intervals with a 5 minute easy spin inbetween each interval. I will do these intervals on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

I am looking to vary my AT workouts, so what are some of your favorite AT workouts?

Thanks.

Favourite? Anaerobic Threshold??

Should never be used in the same sentence. :D

Could you define AT? If you're talking about anaerobic capacity, I like 2-5 minute intervals at around 150% of my functional threshold power.

If you're going 12 minutes, that isn't training your anaerobic system. You are closer to stressing your threshold and vo2 max systems at that duration.

greb:

I am defining AT as my ability to work into an interval and increase my heart rate to high sustainable rate.

My workout this morning consisted of the following:

15 minute easy spin, heart rate around 115
12 minute interval, started in my 53x17 for two minutes then the remaining 10 minutes in my 53X15 and increasing my heart rate till it hit 170.
My 1 minute recovery heart rate dropped 20bpm and my 5 minute recovery hear rate dropped 50 bpm.

The reason why I am doing the longer intervals, is that I am training for the Elite PacTour which crosses the US in 17 days.

My "favorite" high intensity workout:

Hill repeats.

Now how many of you could have guessed that? :)

My favorite interval time is about 7 minutes. Ride up, coast down, repeat until cooked.

+1

fnd a mile long drag, drop the 53 x 15 and suffer.
