Water bottle help!
Has anyone out there ever find a good insulated water bottle? Mine's a Polar Bottle and I am not that impressed with it! Are there any good bottles out there? Appreciate any and all help!

I use one of those ultimate direction ones and wear it under my jacket. Keeps it nice and liquid.

Put a heat pack in there when it's -20F and it's fine after two hours.

polar bottle
Heat the liquid first or maybe a Nissan Thermos would work for that coffee jolt while riding?

Did you call me an old person or what? I'm not THAT old!
It may be winter by you but here in Abilene,Tx,it has been warm about 75 or a lil more. I think my water bottle is like my Camelback. Ice melts quickly but drink stays cool.

In the summer, I'm not that concerned with keeping my water cool. I'm typically out for three hours or more, and nothing less than a true thermos would work then. Warm water isn't that bad anyway.
In the winter, I want to keep my water as warm as possible, though. I'm not out for as long, and ice cold water makes my teeth tingle in a nasty way. So, I boil some water, fill the bottle to about 90% with boiling water, then top off with water from the tap. The water cools off so fast that within half an hour, it's barely at "room temperature".
After an hour, it's close to freezing anyway, but with straight tap water from the start, it would've started to freeze after a few minutes. This assumes freezing temps outside, of course.
Problem is, though, that long before the water in the bottle freezes, the damn mouthpiece freezes solid, so I can't drink from the bottle... Which is usually what limits my rides in freezing temps, along with numb toes and fingers.

The Polar bottles are pretty good, all things considered. Though a bit more cumbersome, the Zefal bottles seem to insulate a fair bit better than Polar.

Put a bit of salt or gatorade in - it will lower the temp at which it freezes.

I use the Polar, start with hot tap water, still ok 1.5 - 2 hr @ 15 deg f.
